In what ways has Buddhism influenced Japanese history and culture?  

Apart from exploring this question through group investigation and discussion, this seminar will be combined with a Zazen (seated meditation) experience at the 1200-year-old Tenryuji-temple, the headquarter of the renowned Zen sect, Rinzai, in Japan. This exchange workshop will provide ample occasion to refresh yourselves from your everyday studies and give you new insights into the Japanese culture substantially influenced by Buddhism.  

Dates: Nov. 05 (Sat.) ～ 06 (Sun.) 2022 

Participants: 50 international and Japanese students in total  

*If the number of applicants exceeds capacity, the participants will be decided through a lottery.

▪Nov. 05 am:  Lecture and Zazen experience at the Tenryuji-Temple, Kyoto 

Free visit to the beautiful garden of the Temple

All applicants will receive emails with the result of the lottery. Since some cancellations are expected, a waiting list will be issued.   

Pre-Meeting: Nov. 2(Wed.), 2022, 12:10-13:00   

The participants are requested to attend the pre-meeting. The place will be announced later. This is obligational for the participants, as ｗe will build the working groups and allocate the working sub-topics/themes to each group in this meeting.
