ILAS Exchange Workshop

Thank you very much for your large interests and numerous applications!
The lucky participants will be announced soon.
All applicants will anyway receive an email about the result of the lottery.
We are planning another workshop in Feb./March 2019 and wish you, if you failed to join this workshop, a good luck for the next time!

ILAS Exchange Workshop:  Buddhism in Japanese Culture

In what ways has Buddhism influenced Japanese history and culture?

Apart from exploring this question through group investigation and discussion, this seminar will be combined with a Zazen (seated meditation) experience at Enryakuji, the most renowned Tendai monastery in Japan, and an opportunity to make and eat your own Soba (buckwheat noodles). Moreover, as the seminar venue is located immediately next to the shore of Lake Biwa, and Enryakuji is situated within the lush autumn forest of Mount Hiei, this exchange will provide ample occasion to refresh yourselves from your everyday studies.
