Hi, folks!

I want to announce that this year's English Discussion Club will end tomorrow.

On this occasion, I want you to share about what great new experiences you had this year, and what kind of adventure you are expecting next year. Let us take a look at our life a little and see how far we have come.

But, most importantly, I hope all of you enjoyed all the sessions we had until now and learned some new things as well.

For anyone who could not join at all this year, you can always join next year!

Lastly, thank you very much to all of you who patiently listened to my ramblings (LOL) and had fun discussing all the fascinating topics with me!

If you have anything to say about me, please never hesitate to contact me through my email here --> haris@imdr.dpri.kyoto-u.ac.jp

For the Next Session on December 13th 2022-12-12 [HARIS RAHADIANTO]

Hi, folks!

Thank you very much to all of you who came last week and joined our session,

I hope it gives you an additional boost to enjoy your day, and I hope you will come again tomorrow!

In the last session, we shared our experiences with the things we enjoy and support. For example, some of you like to support a big sports team, while the rest like to have an enjoyment of someone's work personally. I was delighted to hear what you are currently like!

Like last time, we will play another GAME for the next session. Hurray!

I ensure we will still have a lively discussion throughout the game, but with lighter and more hilarious topics. So you can enjoy the next session to the fullest!

There will be a different game for the online and offline participants due to the differences in the medium. You can join both if you are eager to have more fun on the day! (LOL)

You can bring anything you want! Snacks, drinks, papers, anything! Don't worry, and enjoy talking with us!

So, come to the club and play the game with me, and we will have a lot of fun!

See you tomorrow!

Hi, Folks!

Thank you very much to all of you who came last week and joined our session,

I hope it gives you an additional boost to enjoy your day, and I hope you will come again tomorrow!

In the last session, we discussed our perspective on the history education we experienced and our impression of it. Many of you felt that more reflections should be made about the event, not just the trivial info!

For the next session, we will discuss the most hype event in town: The World Cup! The world witnessed how Japan surprised everyone beat both big names in football (yes, football, not soccer), such as Germany and Spain, in the group stage.

Coincidentally, just before our club, Japan will face Croatia in the knockout stages, so I guessed many of you and your friend will support them in the morning!

Now, we will not discuss football or football event in particular, but let's discuss anything that you currently support/have ever supported in the past. Is it big sports teams? Or just local clubs where you know everyone? Or do you just support your national teams regardless of the event?

What did you remember the most when supporting them? What makes you support them, or lack thereof? I want to know about your personal experiences and let's compare our memories together! It is not necessary to be sports teams; it could be musicians, novelists, artists, or anything! So don't worry and enjoy talking with us!

I hope we can have a lively discussion with many exciting exchanges of opinions and ideas between participants!

You can bring anything you want! Snacks, drinks, papers, anything! Don't worry, and enjoy talking with us!

So, come to the club, and we will have a lot of fun!

See you tomorrow!

Return of the Club on November 29th 2022-11-28 [HARIS RAHADIANTO]

Hi, Folks!

After taking a break due to the festival, we will have a discussion club again tomorrow! Hurray!

For the next session, we will discuss one of the recommended topics from the participants: The importance of studying history as a reflection of future events. I want to know your perspective on your history and the history of the world in general.

Which part of known history do you like the most? Or, you don't even like history at all? You can tell your story when learning history (no pun intended, lol).

Hi, folks!

Thank you very much to all of you who came last week and joined our session,

I hope it gives you an additional boost to enjoy your day, and I hope you will come again!

In the last session, we had a fantastic GAME! We got many fun dilemmas and discussed our points of view on life!

Sadly, there will be no club tomorrow due to the festival. But all of you can enjoy the festival to your heart's content!

The club will resume on next week, 29 November 2022.

See you next week!

Hi, folks!

There is an important notification for today's club for offline participants,

Due to the event held today in the usual place, today's club will move to Conversation Room 2 on the second floor of the same building,

So please go to the second floor today and have fun with me!

See you guys!

Hi, folks!

Thank you very much to all of you who came last week and joined our session,

I hope it gives you an additional boost to enjoy your day, and I hope you will come again tomorrow!

In the last session, we discussed our perspective about the education we had before coming to the university and how generalisation and specificity in earlier education helped us choose our next step in life!

For the next session, before having discussions on more interesting and exciting topics in the future, we will play a GAME.

Worry not, I ensure we will still have a lively discussion through the game, but with lighter and more hilarious topics. So you can enjoy the next session to the fullest!

There will be a different game for the online and offline participants due to the differences in the medium. You can join both if you are really eager to have more fun on the day! (LOL)

You can bring anything you want! Snacks, drinks, papers, anything! Don't worry, and enjoy talking with us!

So, come to the club and play the game with me, and we will have a lot of fun!

See you tomorrow!

Hi, folks!

Thank you very much to all of you who came last week and joined our very first hybrid discussion,

I hope it gives you an additional boost to enjoy your day, and I hope you will come again tomorrow!

We discussed our own experiences in life about convenience and how it already have been brought us many benefits and possible shortcomings in the future!

For the next session, we will discuss one of the recommended topics from the participants: Generalisations vs Specialisations in Early Educations. Many of the participants want to discuss education topics so I chose one of them.

It is an interesting topic since you are now embarking on specialised education at the university. Whether you would have chosen a different major/subject if you are already studied specific things before becoming a university student.

Here, you can share your experiences during your school days and further explore what kind of education you would like to get for your younger self from the current you. For example, would you repeat the same general things you already got? Or perhaps you would take a particular field instead? Also, the merit and demerit of both sides.

I hope we can have a lively discussion with many exciting exchanges of opinions and ideas between participants!

You can bring anything you want! Snacks, drinks, papers, fans, anything! Don't worry, and enjoy talking with us!

I will try to open the online room as early as possible to have longer discussion time for online participants. Also, for offline participants, you can join the online discussion before shifting to the face-to-face meeting. This discussion club is not mutually exclusive between online and offline.

Lastly, I will be glad if you can register yourself (if you have not yet done it) by clicking the link below:

Hi, folks!

I hope it gives you an additional boost to enjoy your day, and I hope you will come again tomorrow!

Yes, tomorrow we will have our first hybrid session on Tuesday instead of Thursday like before!

You can join either online as usual at an earlier time (12:10 ~ 12.30) or in person at a later time (from 12.30 onward)!

For this last session, we will discuss one of the untouched topics from the previous semester: More Convenient Life.

We will explore how our current life is one of the easiest in human history, how this condition shapes us as perhaps the best version of ourselves, or instead, such thing brings us many caveats.

Here, all of you can give your perspectives on all the facilities you have enjoyed until now and their side effects, if any. Then we can debate those notes to understand the underlying differences further.

I hope we can have a lively discussion with many exciting exchanges of opinions and ideas between participants!

You can bring anything you want! Snacks, drinks, papers, fans, anything! Don't worry, and enjoy talking with us!

We will explore the differences in student experiences, teaching methods, and life after graduation between students in Japan and the World.

Here, all of you can give your perspectives on your experiences studying at Kyoto University until now, and I will provide my perspective from foreigners. Then we can debate those notes to understand the underlying differences further.
