This time we talked about New Year traditions in Russia and Japan! I talked about the difference between New Year (Новый год) and Christmas (Рождество) in Russia, how Russians celebrate them, who Ded Moroz is, and which dishes are commonly served on the table. Participants also shared what they are going to do during the holidays and talked about Japanese New Year food O-sechi (おせち).  Interesting fact: both Japanese and Russians love to eat mandarins at this time of year!

I think we learned a lot from each other and had a great time talking about holidays and celebrations.
