年の瀬が近づいて参りました。無事に年越しを迎えられそうでしょうか。

第12回（最終回）の日本語会話クラブには14名が参加し、レベルごとに分かれて会話を楽しみました。

初級I（N5・N4）では「来年したいこと」をテーマにおしゃべりをしました。

今回が後期最終回になります。ご参加いただいた皆さん、ありがとうございました。良いお年を！

As the end of the year approaches, we hope everyone will be able to welcome the New Year safely.

A total of 14 people participated in the 12th (and final) Japanese Conversation Club, enjoying conversations in groups divided by level.

In the Beginner I class (N5–N4), participants chatted about the theme “Things I want to do next year.”

This session marked the final meeting of the second term. Thank you very much to everyone who joined us. Wishing you all a Happy New Year!

寒さの厳しい日が増えてきましたが、会話クラブに来ると、毎回、心も体も温まる気がします。

冬休みが近づいてきたので、クリスマスや年末年始の過ごし方が最近定番の話題です。

今回は24名の参加でした。

年末ぎりぎりまで日本語の授業やテスト、レポートなどで忙しいですが、あと少し頑張りましょう！

As the days grow colder, coming to the conversation club always makes me feel warm — both in body and in spirit.

With winter break approaching, we’ve been talking a lot lately about how people spend Christmas and the New Year.

Even though many of us are still busy with Japanese classes, tests, and reports right up until the end of the year, let’s hang in there just a little longer!

さむい　ひでも、
にほんご　かいわ　くらぶに　くると
こころも　からだも　あたたかく　なりますね。

今年も残すところあと10日ほどになりました。やり残したことはありませんか？

第11回の日本語会話クラブには18名が参加し、レベルごとに分かれて会話を楽しみました。

初級I（N5・N4）ではそれぞれの出身国でどのようにクリスマスや新年を祝うのかについて簡単な日本語で話しました。

次回の日本語会話クラブは12月24日（水）、後期最後の会話クラブです。

About 10 days are left this year.  Are there things left behind this year? 

The 11th Japanese Conversation Club meeting was held with 18 students and they enjoyed chatting in Japanese. 

In N5 & N4 group, we talked about how the participants celebrate Christmas and the New Year in their home country in easy Japanese. 

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 24th, the final meeting of the second semester.

ことしも　もう　おわり　ますね

きょうは　にほんご　かいわ　クラブを　しました。

１８にんの　がくせいが　きました。

つぎの　にほんご　かいわ　クラブは　12がつ　24にち　すいようび　です。

こうき　さいごの　かいわ　クラブです。

らいしゅうも　たくさん　にほんごで　はなしましょう！

遂に天気予報に雪マークが…！インフルエンザが猛威を振るっている十分気を付けて下さい。

上級グループでは、自分の名前に関する話題が盛り上がりました。特に、東アジア圏での名前の漢字と、欧州・東南アジア圏のミドルネームについて議論になりました。

次回は12月10日（水）です。寒くて家から出たくないですが、是非来てくださいね。

Happily or unhappily, we saw the first snowfall of this year. Be careful not to be knocked down by the spreading flu!

In the N1/N2 level, the topic was their own names: students from East Asia explained their kanji and their significations, while those from Europe and Southeast Asia introduced their hidden middle name.

The next time is December 10th. Get out of your bed, and please come to our club!

じょうきゅうでは、　じぶんの　なまえに　ついて　はなしました。かんじや　みどるねーむに　ついて　です。

じかいは　１２がつ　１０にち　です。ぜひ　きてください。

一気に寒くなってきて、日が落ちるのも早くなってきましたね。

第8回の日本語会話クラブには約22名が参加し、レベルごとに分かれて会話を楽しみました。

上級（N4,5）ではお互いの国の季節について話しました。本州にずっと住んでいる身からすると、冬もあったかいなんて、信じられないですね。

次回の日本語会話クラブは12月3日（水）です。

It’s suddenly gotten much colder, and the sun is setting earlier these days.

About 22 people joined the 8th Japanese Conversation Club, and we enjoyed chatting in groups based on level.

In the advanced group (N4–N5), we talked about the seasons in each other’s countries. For someone like me who has lived in Honshu all my life, it’s hard to believe that winter can actually be warm!

The next Japanese Conversation Club meeting will be on Wednesday, December 3rd.

第7回の日本語会話クラブには約30名が参加し、レベルごとに分かれて会話を楽しみました。

初級I（N5・N4）では簡単な日本語で自己紹介の練習をしたり、好きな日本料理や自国の料理について話し合ったりしました。

次回の日本語会話クラブは11月26日（水）です。

Leaves have begun to turn their color recently. Have you gone to see the autumn leaves yet?

The 7th Japanese Conversation Club meeting was held with about 30 students and they enjoyed chatting in Japanese. 

In N5 & N4 group, we practiced self-introduction and talked about the favorite Japanese food of the participants and the favorite food of their home country in easy Japanese. 

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 26th. 

We are looking forward to seeing you at the next Conversation Club meeting

and I hope you all can enjoy the NF festival this week!

今週の日本語会話クラブには17名の参加がありました。

私のグループでは、大学院生が多かったため、仏教学や考古学など、それぞれの専門分野についてのお話が弾みました。出身国と日本との学術研究をめぐる環境の比較の話や、研究テーマとの出会いなど、会話のトピックは多岐にわたっていました。

次回の会話クラブは11月19日です。

寒くなって来て、外に出るのが億劫になる季節ですが、是非いらしてください。

We had 17 wonderful participants at this week’s Japanese Conversation Club!

In my group, most members were graduate students, so we had lively and engaging conversations about everyone’s field of study—from Buddhist studies to archaeology. We also talked about how we each discovered our research themes, and compared academic life in Japan and our home countries. The discussion flowed naturally and covered a wide range of topics.

Our next session will be on November 19.

It’s getting chillier and a little harder to leave the comfort of home, but we’d love to see you there. Come warm up with good conversation and great company!

早くも冬を感じさせる気温と木枯らし。南方から来た留学生の中には寒そうに上着を着込む姿も多く見られました。そういった天候を反映してか、クリスマスや年末年始の予定、雪が降ったらどうするか等、冬に関連する話題が多く話されていました。

次回は11月12日（水）です。ふるってご参加ください。

With the dropping temperature and colorless winds, winter is almost there. Some international students who came from warmer areas, while more or less shivering, seem to equip themselves with thick jumpers. Such weather might have affected the conversation topics; students talked about their plans for Christmas and winter holidays, as well as the ways to tackle heavy snow.

The 4th  Japanese Conversation club meeting was held with about 19 students. In N5 & N4 level, we introduced ourselves and talked in easy Japanese about how people spend the year-end and New Year holidays in their respective countries.

The next Japanese Conversation Club is on Wednesday, November 5th.

急に冷えてきましたね。周りにも、マスクをしている人がちらほら見えてくる時期になりました。後期の第３回の会話クラブは新しい参加者を迎え、約28名の参加がありました。初級I（N5・N4）では自己紹介に挑戦してみたり、上級クラスでは、最近したことや地元の美味しいご飯の話しをしました。私も海外の美味しいご飯を食べてみたいです！

次回もみなさんの参加を楽しみにしています！

It’s getting colder these days, and we can see more people wearing masks around us. The third Japanese Conversation Club meeting of the fall semester was held with about 28 participants, including some new members. In the N5 & N4 level class, we practiced self-introductions, and in the advanced class, we talked about recent activities and delicious local foods. Listening to everyone’s stories made me want to try some tasty dishes from other countries too!

We look forward to seeing you all in the ILAS meeting space!!
