Conversation in Russian Club - Session 3 Topic: Food, Cultural Experiences, and Climate Preferences

2026年10月29日 17時18分 [KUSSAINOVA MAIRA]

Today, we had a lively and enjoyable Russian Conversation Club session exploring traditional food, travel experiences, and cultural differences.

Participants shared their favorite dishes from Russia and other Slavic countries, including shchi (Russian cabbage soup), pirogi (pies), and beef Stroganoff. One student also shared experiences from a recent academic conference in Poland.

A special highlight was tasting traditional Kazakh foods — baursaks (fried dough) and kurt (dried cheese) — which I prepared for our participants. We discussed how these foods are traditionally made in Kazakhstan and Central Asia and how discovering new cuisines helps us better understand different cultures.

We also talked about life in Australia and compared climate preferences. Interestingly, most participants preferred cooler weather over hot climates!

It was another wonderful session of Russian language practice, cultural exchange, and delicious discoveries.

Спасибо всем за участие! Было очень вкусно и интересно! До новых встреч! 😊
